Preparation

HFC-143a (Trifluoroethane) can be made by floridation reaction between HCFC-142b (1,1-difluoro-1-chloroethane) and hydrofluoric acid

Application

HFC-143a (Trifluoroethane) is used as a component of azeotropic-like blend refrigerant such as R507 (with 50% HFC-143a), R404a (with 52% HFC-143a), R-408a (with 47% HFC-143a)
